Web Host Datapipe Providing App55 with PCI Compliant Hosting
Web hosting provider Datapipe (www.datapipe.com) announced on Wednesday that it had been chosen to provide payment processing technology provider App55 (www.app55.com) with a highly available, PCI compliant hosting solution.
According to the announcement, Datapipe’s hosting solution will enable App55 to deliver a new solution that will let online retailers use the payment processing services of WorldPay (www.worldpay.com) to conduct seamless online checkout using multiple systems, including mobile phones, tablets, computers, web TVs and social networks.
Customers interact with a branded checkout screen, and confirm payment by filling out a password prompt.
“Our cloud-based payment service allows retailers to easily add an Amazon-style checkout experience on computers, mobiles and tablets, to exploit the growth in m-commerce,” says Richard Beaton, CEO of App55, quoted in the press release. “Datapipe play a key part in helping us to deliver this robust, reliable and PCI compliant system.”
As a payment service, PCI compliance was obviously of paramount importance to App55, which offers, “outsource your PCI compliance,” as an incentive to prospective retailer customers. In order to provide the physical security, the company relied on DataPipe, which says it was one of the first organizations to achieve Level 1 PCI Certified Service Provider status.
“Datapipe’s partnership with App55 delivers enterprise-level compliance and infrastructure for the WorldPay payment processing solution,” said Datapipe CEO Robb Allen, also quoted in the release. “We look forward to working together to provide both the security and service required for long-term growth and success.”
The deal illustrates the significant role that compliance can play in acquiring new business for a hosting provider, though the rigors of PCI compliance for hosting service providers are well documented.
